	Processing and QC
	FGPS provides a data processing and data quality appraisal service for streamer and OBC surveys. This service is undertaken by experienced and appropriately qualified personnel. Typical applications are: First Line Quality Control (FLQC): The raw data (P2 file) and processed data (P1 file) for the first line of the survey are sent, along with all documentation defining the navigation configuration. Data files are transmitted from the field by FTP to a dedicated password protected site on our server. The P2 header is checked for conformity with the documented configuration. The P2 data undergoes detailed appraisal and is processed to produce a P1/90 dataset. This dataset is compared with the client's P1/90 and the differences logged. A comprehensive report is produced. The turnaround time is 24 hours from the receipt of data on our server. A detailed description of the FLQC is available on request. Remote verification of a percentage of data as a survey is in progress. Data are normally compressed and transmitted from the field to a secure FTP site. Each line sent is processed to produce a coordinate data set in P1/90 format which is then compared to the contractor’s product for the latter to be verified. A full report on each line is produced, as well as a final report. The turnaround time for this service is 24 hours from the receipt of data at the FTP site. This service has proven to be a valuable means of quality assurance for clients, overcoming the problems presented by environmental effects on data and its frequently subjective treatment. Processing of an entire survey by remote. This may be a cost effective alternative to onboard processing when weather conditions enforce a low rate of production. Clients are also presented with an attractive alternative for the processing of 2D surveys for which data may undergo onboard QC only at the acquisition stage. This approach obviates the need for expensive Unix based systems usually employed onboard. Re-processing of archived data in a variety of formats. FGPS is able to apply state-of-the-art processing techniques and the experience of its personnel to ensure that old data, often originally acquired and processed under dubious circumstances, may be optimally processed and appraised so that clients may make informed decisions concerning its use. FGPS also provides processing of bathymetry data for tidal reductions, and bespoke data processing services for applications as per clients’ request. These include transcription, corrupt data retrieval and general troubleshooting.
